Not for the fainthearted (or indeed, light of pocket), Chalet Montana is one of the most exclusive places to stay in Val d’Isere. Situated next to the steepest of Olympic Downhill pistes (making the ski-in/ski-out location viable only to more fearless skiers – for the rest a chauffeured 4×4 will collect and drop off from elsewhere on the slopes), the immaculately designed interior has six comfortable bedrooms decked out traditional alpine style.
The master suite sits under a beautifully beamed roof, while elsewhere a large sitting room, indoor swimming pool and sauna make perfect entertaining/relaxation spaces. There are six full-time staff on-hand to keep you in the manner to which you’ve undoubtedly become accustomed, including your own chauffeur, chef and housekeeper.
As you might expect, this kind of service and luxury doesn’t come cheap; with entry-level rates hitting £30,000 a week, Chalet Montana tends to be the preserve of aspiring oligarchs and hedge-funders.
