Rive Gauche
Specialising in ‘Modern Fine Casual Dining’, a description that’s more of a mouthful than the gloriously light, Mediterranean-inspired fare on offer, the Baur au Lac’s chic restaurant has a popular following amongst Zürich’s most elegant diners.
A playful menu, start with the Lemonardo di Carpaccio (carpaccio of scallops with lemon vinaigrette) or Poir’eau (leek cream soup with a curry foam), move onto the Gump’s Shrimp or the 200gr. Gentleman’s cut of beef tenderloin, rounding the evening off with a Panna Colada.
Actually, you really should be rounding the evening off with a Martini – starting it too, for that matter – in the stylish bar attached to the restaurant. Both share the same décor, dark wood, pale green leather seating, statement lighting and just a hint of Asian chic. The Asian influence gets ramped up in December, when Rive Gauche plays host to a pop up Nobu restaurant that is one of the hottest tickets in town.
