Although you might not know it with all this rain, summer has actually come to London, and as the temperatures creep slowly toward 20-degrees, here at Hg2, we’ve been on the lookout for some great summery things to do in the city.

Film4 Summer Screen Somerset House

One of the events we get most excited about each summer is Film4 Summer Screen: the chance to sit under the stars and watch classic movies on the big screen at the Somerset House. The huge screen is set up in the Edmond J. Safra Fountain Court, where films are shown with full surround sound. A bar provides plenty of tipple and DJs play chilled out sets before each film.

This year, the lineup for Film4 Summer Screen includes a pretty eclectic mix of classic movies, including The Birds, Apocalypse Now, Pretty in Pink and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. Doors open at 6.30pm for film goers to set out their picnics, chill out to the DJs and the films commence at 9pm.

To go along with the 12-day event, our friends over at myhotels are offering a limited Film4 Summer Screen package that includes two tickets to a screening, access to the VIP bar before the film and a stay at either myhotel Bloomsbury or myhotel Chelsea. A continental buffet breakfast the following morning and a late check-out are also included.

Rates for the Film4 Summer Screen package start from £150 +vat per room per night in a standard double at myhotel Bloomsbury and from £170 +vat per room per night at myhotel Chelsea. To make a booking visit www.myhotels.com or call +44 20 7637 2000.
