GQ is a well-known and very popular bar/restaurant in the city. The reason for putting it in the drink section is that some are divided as to its success as a restaurant, yet no one disputes its triumph as a bar. The food is good, but overpriced, and therefore a business lunch (2,000 KZT) is probably the best compromise. Whatever you come for, you will find yourself in a very sophisticated (both in terms of décor and crowd) setting. Head downstairs and sit at the bar where a vast wall of whiskys, calvados and cognacs will impress even those who don’t drink them, and creates a wonderful golden light that’s lovely to bask in. The extensive alcohol menu carries on into a detailed cigar menu, a sign that this place knows how to do things properly. Come here for guaranteed atmosphere, superlative cocktails and one of the most hedonistic, heady experiences the city has to offer.
