Persona Grata is located one door down from Marrone Rosso in a rather beautiful white building that overlooks a sweet little park behind Furmanov. Inside, the décor is sleek and stylish with cool art and photography on display and a VIP room upstairs. The large, well-priced menu is mostly Italian, featuring tasty pizzas, pastas and salads alongside shashlik to cater to local tastes; and there are cocktails and wine as well as hot drinks. At the time of writing the menu was only in Russian, but some of the staff speaks English and will assist with your order. Persona Grata is best enjoyed in summer, when a romantic terrace – hung with billowing drapes and overlooking one of Almaty’s many fountains – opens outside.
