It would appear that the Shera attracts a lot of local celebs judging by the framed pics on show throughout the ground floor of the hotel – and they look like happy customers. Certainly, they would have found friendly staff, a pleasant restaurant and 47 clean, well-equipped rooms at this smart little hotel at the top end of Furmanov. The location isn’t that central, admittedly, but it’s only a ten-minute taxi ride to the centre of town. The cheaper rooms are rather compact but square footage rises disproportionally to your hard-earned KZT; and all have modern bathrooms with marble sinks and large showers. The Shera has two sister properties: the Shera Residence close to Gorky Park and the Shera Inn just across the street. Somewhat inconveniently, the latter houses the gym and sauna complex, meaning you may spot the odd guest dashing across the road in their dressing gown and slippers. It’s important to note that the WiFi only grants you 4MB of free data per day – anything above this will incur extra charges. You have been warned.
