Hg2 : The Hedonist

Mukhtar Auezov House

Mukhtar Auezov was a famous Kazakhauthor and playwright working during the first half of the 20th-century who authored more than 20 plays as well as various translations of famous literary works into the Kazakh language. He was also the biographer of the famous Kazakh poet, Abai. The museum first opened in 1963 and nowadays encompasses both his rather lovely 1950s home plus a library and permanent exhibit. Call a day or so ahead of your visit and staff will happily organise a tour in English for you. We suggest making a cultural afternoon of it, and combining a visit here with a visit to the Kunaev and Mukanov Museums, which are also located on Tulebaev.
