Hôtel Droog is more than just a stylish place to stay in central Amsterdam. In fact, if you want to stay in Amsterdam, there’s probably better options – it only has one room. Instead, this is a kind of inverted hotel experience, where carefully curated shared spaces – including a spa, gallery, library and cafe – become the main attractions and the sleeping, well, that’s the bonus.
In this historical 17th century building, Droog’s interiors are bright and airy, using bold, contemporary design pieces to great effect throughout 700 square metres of space. Cutting edge design has been synonymous with the name Droog since the ’90s, and they don’t disappoint with this thriving incarnation. The aptly named One and Only Bedroom on the top floor is a spartan yet somehow decadent place to stay, offering sweeping views out over the rooftops of Amsterdam, with a comprehensive living space, including a working kitchen. For those who don’t fancy cooking during their stay, the on-site ROOMSERVICE Cafe and Tearoom serves fresh, local cuisine throughout the day, from breakfast and brunch to drinks and a late-night dinner.
