Visaandeschelde
Though it may be tucked away near the convention centre tedium of RAI, and at the furthest southern extreme of what most consider Amsterdam proper, Visaandeschelde is worth the excursion for anyone with a weakness for munching on marine life. It’s reputation as (possibly) the best seafood restaurant in town is largely down to the enthusiasm of the two muckas that run the place. The menu offers nothing but aquatic treats (and some well chosen white wines to accompany them), all prettily presented and carefully prepared in styles that veer from Japanese to French, with little deviations to the Med. Given its location, it’s unsurprising that so many of the punters are passing business folk, but it’s saved from the souless air of a conference dining room by the warmth of staff. There is plenty of variety – four types of oyster to choose from, five very different lobster dishes – but the quality remains consistent.
