Mindal – watch out for the Russian spelling, which makes this look more like MUHgalb – is just a few doors down from the Salvador Dali nightclub, but here you’ll find a much more relaxed and loungey atmosphere. Although attached to a restaurant and hotel – Tamgaly, in case you’re interested – this is the better place to head. Downstairs, in a vaulted basement where drinkers are greeted by statues of Greek deities, is a small but bottle-packed bar, and a dozen or so tables with comfy armchairs. There’s a decent meat-and-fish menu – it comes down from the restaurant upstairs – but what Mindal excels at are kalyans and cocktails. Sit back and enjoy while the DJ hits the decks.
