Compared to the gold towers on Nurzhol Boulevard, Cafestar’s exterior isn’t quite so grand. But once inside everything changes. The space is clean and modern, dark shelves house all manner of lamps, photographs of ‘slebs line the walls, including a rather imposing life-size shot of Scarlett Johansson, and glistening crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling, while during the day the room is illuminated by the large windows. Then there is a rather glamorous mezzanine lounge that is perfect for drinks or a laid back dinner. Diners can pick from a globe-trotting menu encompassing Asian noodles and stir fries, European-style grills and pastas, and numerous fish dishes. For Astana’s glamorous ladies-who-lunch there are plenty of light salads and snacks to choose from, too. No doubt they particularly appreciate the handsome and obliging waitstaff at this stylish hotspot, which is one of our favourite Astana haunts.
