Museum of Modern Art
Tucked away on Respublika Avenue about three blocks north of the Kabanbai Batyr Bridge, the unassuming entrance to the Museum of Modern Art belies the interesting (if small) collection inside. The art is, of course, mostly from Kazakhstan, but the collection is padded out with more from Russia and other CIS countries. Dating mostly from the second-half of the 20th-century, anyone with an interest in modern art should make a stop here. Check the website for information about current exhibitions, which often spotlight graduates from the National Kazakh Academy of Arts.
