Saints Konstantin & Elena Cathedral
Built in 1854, this small cathedral – tucked away just behind Respublika Avenue – has been functioning as a church again since 1999 after being shut for many years during the Soviet period. It used to be the city’s main cathedral but the new Uspensky Cathedral – consecrated in 2010 – has now taken over. It is still worth a visit, though, and transports you to another world entirely.
