A Hedonist’s guide to…

Baku

Mado
Less is more at Mado where neat portions of Japanese fare are served up against a sparsely decorated backdrop.
Cio Cio San
You don't have to be a bookworm to know that Cio Cio San is named after the heroine in Madame Butterfly; similarly you don't need to be a die-hard foodie to know that its Japanese fare is the best in Baku.
Azza Fyujin
The sky really is the limit for Azza Fyujin which crowns the ISR Plaza building and offers awe-inspiring Asian fusion 17 fabulous floors up.
Aristocrat
While it's interiors may look like Donatella Versace has thrown up all over the place Aristocrat offers inspiring Italian cuisine to a chic crowd of well-dressed diners.
Meridian
Despite having nothing to do with the Le Méridien group The Meridien Hotel still enjoys a central location and spacious rooms. The décor may not be as decadent as the chain of the same name would command but a planned refurb suggests there'
Golden Coast
Glitz glamour and grandeur; Baku's hotel scene is getting a makeover and first in line is Golden Coast. Having recently opened the hotel proves that bling is still in with interiors so bright they almost blind.
Excelsior
Aside from its rockstar-worthy Imperial Suite and God knows how many other well-appointed guest rooms The Excelsior has more amenities than you can shake a very large stick at. Check in and check it out.
Ambassador
With a planned rennovation to help it hold on to its five golden stars things can only get better at the Ambassador Hotel.
Radisson Blu Plaza
With views looking out over Fountain Square and an excellent café bar and restaurant combo, Radisson Blu Plaza checks all the right boxes. Its anticipated renovation will only add to its panache.
Park Inn
The Park Inn is one of Baku's more mainstream hotel offerings but don't let that put you off; owned by Radisson/ISR Holdings it's supremely comfortable with a restaurant and bar to keep you off the streets during the small hours.
Opera Lounge
Loungier than Face but every bit as glamourous - if not more in places - Opera Lounge has clubbing all wrapped up with in-house dining and music from big-name DJs all under one roof.
