Proving that karaoke doesn't only take place in Benidorm Pride Lounge is Baku's primary sing-along destination; whether it's Celine or Mariah you're after you're sure to find it here.
Park Inn
The Park Inn is one of Baku's more mainstream hotel offerings but don't let that put you off; owned by Radisson/ISR Holdings it's supremely comfortable with a restaurant and bar to keep you off the streets during the small hours.
Opera & Ballet Theatre
Currently undergoing a mammoth refurb the Opera and Ballet Theatre remains one of the most beautiful buildings in Baku. While you can't check out a performance at present you can stand and stare at its wonder.
Mesa Lounge
Bright young things are drawn to Mesa Lounge like moths to a very fabulous flame; Japanese and European menus combine with sumptuous Spanish-esque interiors for a very alluring venue indeed.
Meridian
Despite having nothing to do with the Le Méridien group The Meridien Hotel still enjoys a central location and spacious rooms. The décor may not be as decadent as the chain of the same name would command but a planned refurb suggests there'
Mado
Less is more at Mado where neat portions of Japanese fare are served up against a sparsely decorated backdrop.
La Vita
Yummy mummies love La Vita for it's seen and be seen atsmophere with people-watching opportunities galore and a heavy menu brimming with piled-high plates of pasta.
Konti
Sharp-suited white collar types prop up the bar at Konti a smart bar just a Prada-soled step away from the offices at the Landmark building the British Embassy and Government House.
Infiniti
To Infiniti and beyond as they say; packed with Bakuvian man-eaters it's practically impossible for a foreign man to leave Inifini without a luscious lady in tow. Whether you want her or not.
Hyatt Regency
Hyatt Apartments
If anyone can do serviced apartments in style, it's Hyatt; its 90 properties in the Hyatt Towers share the hotels' facilities and offer the kind of high-end flourishes that would please even the most discerning guest.
Heydar Aliyev Palace
As Baku's best live music venue you'd expect the Heydar Aliyev Palace to boast an impressive events calendar; and it does with the likes of Kelly Rowland having played alongside George Benson in 2009.
Hazz Café
Located on the ground floor of the Landmark Building - which is teeming with people whatever the weather - it would be a dodgy café indeed that sat empty here. Thankfully Hazz Café is far from dodgy; in fact it's great with brliiant breakfa
Gümüs Maska
The food and drink may indeed by noteworthy at Gümüs Maska - situated on the top floor of the Young Spectators' Theatre - but it is it its awe-inspiring architeture that truly dazzles.
Golden Coast
Glitz glamour and grandeur; Baku's hotel scene is getting a makeover and first in line is Golden Coast. Having recently opened the hotel proves that bling is still in with interiors so bright they almost blind.
Filarmonia
Classic music lovers rejoice; indoor and outdoor performances of the best kind are put on right here. Impressive stuff indeed.
Face Club
The cream of Baku's club-based crop is Face; here you'll find the glam interiors and glitzy crowd expected at any capital's coolest club.
Cio Cio San
You don't have to be a bookworm to know that Cio Cio San is named after the heroine in Madame Butterfly; similarly you don't need to be a die-hard foodie to know that its Japanese fare is the best in Baku.
Café Mozart
Every city needs a 24-hour café - to refuel after and before hangovers - and Café Mozart is Baku's.
Boulevard Hotel Baku
The leading conference hotel in the country, the Boulevard Hotel Baku is a stylish option for both business and leisure travellers.
Azza Fyujin
The sky really is the limit for Azza Fyujin which crowns the ISR Plaza building and offers awe-inspiring Asian fusion 17 fabulous floors up.
Azza Café
Cafés aren't usually given the design treatment but the Azza Café at the foot of the ISR Plaza building is an elegant exception; expect the kind of interiors you'd find in a glossy magazine and desserts to ruin any calorie-controlled diet.

Fashionistas will love the boutiques dotted around Old City.
Ambassador
With a planned rennovation to help it hold on to its five golden stars things can only get better at the Ambassador Hotel.
