Konti
Just a hop, skip and a short jump from the Landmark building, British Embassy and Government House, it is no surprise that Konti is the watering hole of choice for many a suited or diplomatic type, sometimes even with scary looking suited entourage in tow. Lined with split wood panelling and furnished in a rather theme-parkish Wild West style the bar is filled with heavy, rough-cutrnchairs and tables. The Davey Crockett look is further developed by wall-mounted bear and raccoon skins, flintlock guns and antler lamps and so on. But the real draw at Konti is the self-service beer. Each table sits beneath a huge (fake) beer barrel, with a tap and a counter. You simply pour yourself a pint – or a litre – and the counter adds it to your tab. A nice gimmick and one which certainly seems to draw the crowds.
