Another relative newbie, Café City is large and airy, with hugely high vaulted ceilings, white walls, and walnut wood screens, nicely set off by the odd potted palm. Tables are laid out sparely, with seating on cream banquettes and subtly branded walnut chairs and there is a wonderful feeling of space and room to breathe. The clientele is very mixed, representing all ages and types – some come for a quick coffee, others take advantage of the very good menu of snacks, sandwiches and salads which, unusually for Western café-style establishments in Baku, also includes a good number of national dishes, such as excellent qutab. The soundtrack is an excellent chill-out mix, which is also available as a CD for sale over the counter.
