Baku

Meridian
Despite having nothing to do with the Le Méridien group The Meridien Hotel still enjoys a central location and spacious rooms. The décor may not be as decadent as the chain of the same name would command but a planned refurb suggests there'
Grand Hotel Europe
The Grand Hotel Europe is not a patch on the glittering glory of its heyday but rumour has it that it's been sold with a major refurb planned for the future. One can only hope.
Boutique Palace
Expect all the opulence of an Orient Express carriage at the Boutique Palace with ever-so tasteful décor and a smarty clientele to match.
Crown
While it may not be the crowning glory of Baku's hotel scene the Crown is nevertheless a comfortable place to hanker down for those in need of 40 winks.
Excelsior
Aside from its rockstar-worthy Imperial Suite and God knows how many other well-appointed guest rooms The Excelsior has more amenities than you can shake a very large stick at. Check in and check it out.
Atropat
Famed for its larger-than-most rooms the Atropat offers sumptuous styling and sharp service to boot.
Riviera
Despite being a bit further afield than most of our listings - it's a 20-minute walk into town - the Riviera remains a firm favourite thanks to its rock star style and stunning sea views.
Palace
Guests are free to be the king of their own castle at the Palace Hotel, which is nothing like the NY hotel of the same name but boasts enough chic Parisian style to make up for any confusion.
