This little gem is tucked in a tiny alley of Barrio Gotico. It’s become so popular among locals and regular visitors alike that the owners have recently opened a second in the city called Re-Pla. While this could also fall under the category of restaurants, it is listed as a bar because, well, it’s simply a really lovely place to have a good glass of wine or an excellently crafted cocktail. The ambience is very relaxed (the main source of light comes from candles) and the staff are both bilingual and extremely friendly. If you want food while you drink you can either eat at the bar or move into the restaurant area where the menu offers an eclectic mix of Mediterranean food. Whether it’s Greek, French, Italian or Spanish you want, you’ll find it, including the very popular deer with blueberry and orange sauce, accompanied by truffled potatoes. For a lighter snack sushi is available. Where Pla gets it really right is in its atmospheric mix of the Gothic surroundings in which it sits while adding an edge of modernity and sophistication. Rustic isn’t the word to describe this gorgeous find that is easy on the eye, delectable on the palette and has a great atmosphere.
