On the top floor of the slightly grimy looking Eastern Inn Hotel is the perennially hip Q Bar, beloved for its stellar cocktails and view of the stars. When you get out of the elevator you may be underwhelmed by the fluorescent lit corridor but persevere up another flight of stairs to your right where you will discover the souk-like interior. Modish teardrop shaped lights hang above the bar with an impressive selection of backlit multi-colored liquor bottles behind. Regulars rave about the Cosmopolitan and the Appletini, which are reasonably priced around RMB 35-50. The tour de force, however, is the rooftop deck scattered with geometric mini-pavilions that are like a 3-D Tetris. Given the Beijing pollution you may not always be able to see the stars but you can definitely gaze at the constantly increasing city lights. Friday and Saturday nights Q Bar often fills to capacity so be prepared to wait for your drink.at least you know it will be worth it.
