Atop the roof of the boutique design Emperor Hotel is the classy Yin Bar overlooking the Forbidden City and Beihai’s White Dagoba. When Yin opened its doors just before the Olympics everyone in the capital knew it would be the place to watch the fireworks down the meridian line from the Bird’s Nest to the Imperial Palace. And Beijing’s high society come in droves to populate the multi-leveled alcoves and the rooftop Jacuzzi. There are elegant, white chaise lounges dotting the patio where you can relax after a dip in the hot tub. There is a good range of beer, wine and cocktails although the prices are as steep as the stairs up to the bar. We suggest the Emperor’s Martini, which is a smooth blend of vodka, sake, peach, cranberry and lime. Come and sip champagne in your bikini at Beijing’s ultimate pool party.
