Hg2 : The Hedonist

Café Yo

Away from the fray, opposite UNICEF Beijing, Café Yo is a well-guarded Sanlitun secret. Frequented by the do-gooders across the street and diplomats from the surrounding embassies, the café has an upscale vibe. The minimalist white interior has a few splashes of color courtesy of the iconic Tulip chairs by Knoll. Strong illy coffee is the order of the day in all of its many variations, from caramel macchiato to iced mocha, bringing in a loyal following of French and Italian customers. At breakfast, warm croissants are served with pots of Bon Maman preserves and tasty scrambled eggs. There is free Wifi, of course, as well as a variety of Chinese and international publications to peruse over your java. For lunch there is a selection of toasted sandwiches, pancakes, fruit salad and noodles from the owner’s hometown Chongqing. Beware, these are hot, hot, hot! When the weather gets warm, sip an iced concoction on one of the best patios in Sanlitun beneath understated grey umbrellas.
