Although there is no actual Rickshaw in sight, this perennial 24-hour expat favorite is the Beijing equivalent of a greasy spoon. Opened by the team behind the Saddle Cantina and other local nightspots, the Rickshaw offers generous portions of Tex Mex to its hungry clientele in various states of sobriety. The two-storey caf̩ and bar on the corner of the south Sanlitun bar street has an outdoor patio and an upstairs balcony that might be mistaken for a fraternity house. Adding to the Animal House vibe is the pool table on the second floor and the enormous flatscreen TVs broadcasting sports at all hours of the day. Champions League or Super Bowl, you are sure to find a lively crowd here even when the time difference means the game starts at 4am. In addition to the cheap beers, there are good cocktails, smoothies and cuppas.
