If you want the Chinese mega-club experience then GT Banana is the place for you. The 3,000sqm club is spread over three levels and has space for 2,000 clubbers. The décor is somewhere between Malibu Barbie and Lost in Space but that doesn’t stop top international DJs from planting their flag here. One of Beijing’s original dance clubs, it still draws in a huge crowd of young Chinese bumping and grinding to the stylings of legends such as Armin van Buuren and Paul Oakenfold. Be warned that cover charges can go through the roof when the international talent is in town. Cocktails start around RMB 40 and bottles of Dom Perignon around RMB 2,000 for those who want to flash their cash like the locals. If the 30-foot LED screen dominating the dance floor is too much for you, the faint of heart can hide upstairs in the slightly more decorous Spicy Lounge.
