Designed by Philippe Stark, Lan Club is perhaps the most decadent nightlife venue in the capital. Huge Baccarat crystal chandeliers drip from the ceiling while Baroque moldings and furniture are fit for crazy King Ludwig. The club occupies an entire floor of the LG Twin Towers in the CBD, slightly further afield than the Sanlitun club zone, and attracts a steady clientele of wealthy Chinese and foreign executives. The sprawling 7,000sqm includes a French bistro, a Martini Bar, cigar bar, art gallery, and live jazz – in addition to its main dance floor where you can hear sets from the likes of Sasha. The real gliteratti is often hidden in one of the 35 VIP rooms decorated by French artists where guests are served with Baccarat goblets and tableware. Just don’t drop your glass, it costs RMB 30,000!
