The Instituto Cervantes is the Spanish cultural center in Beijing that serves the city’s growing hispanophone community. The center features a regular series of lectures and film screenings that are well attended. Check the website or local listings magazines to see what’s on while you’re in town. It also hosts high-profile exhibitions such as that of Spanish fashion designer Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada. There are Spanish language classes as well as art, music and Iberian culture classes. The Spanish language library contains over 5,000 works of literature as well as a huge collection of movies from the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America.
