Ullens Center for Contemp. Art
Founded by Guy and Myriam Ullens in November 2007, the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art has become a cornerstone of Dashanzi 798 and the Beijing art scene. Occupying an 8,000sqm Bauhaus-style factory space, the UCCA has held a number of important, internationally acclaimed exhibitions in the short time since its opening, including the highly lauded, ‘Christian Dior and Chinese Artists’. The UCCA is currently under the direction of Jérôme Sans, who co-founded the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, and is creating a program that supports both established and emerging Chinese contemporary artists. This much needed not-for-profit foundation is a hub of activity for the artistic community with a regular series of conferences, lectures, seminars, screenings and performances. The UCCAStore also sells limited edition artworks that support its educational programs and UCCA café serves up fabulous food overseen by über-chef Brian McKenna.
