Celtic
Celtic is one of the few British-style pubs in Beirut today. Serving Caffreys, Heineken and local beer Almaza on tap, it is not surprisingly a popular spot for watching sports – there are four large TVs and a projector screen. Nearly always full, it is located in the new courtyard on Monnot directly on top of Moloko. rn

The interior is fairly plain – a number of high wooden tables and stools seat those not crowded into the bar – and is a great antidote to the town’s many overly designed bars. The manager, a man called Berdj, takes great care of any wandering travellers and is happy to point you in the right direction, whether you want to party, eat or chill. Celtic is a good place to go before a full night of heavy hedonism or to glean some info from the few ex-pat Brits and Westerners who live in Beirut.
