Ferdinand
Just as well suited to a night curled up on one of the soft leather sofas with a tipple and a book, as a riotous night with friends knocking back the mojitos (they’re legendary here), Ferdinand is a warm and welcoming gastro pub in the heart of Hamra in Beirut. The bar’s live and let be attitude is hinted at by the inspiration behind its name: Ferdinand is the fabled name of a bull who’d rather stop and smell the flowers, than fight. And thus, Ferdinand the pub, with its come one, come all philosophy, continues to pull in all manner of patrons and a whole host of regulars, from artists and students to travellers looking for a relaxed evening in the city. While the mojitos here are indeed a work of genius, it’s actually the food that steals the show; in particular, the Ferdi Burger, which comes topped with blueberry jam, is nothing short of majestic.
