Al Kahwa
Located directly opposite the American University, Al Kahwa is one of the few remaining traditional Arabic coffee shops in Beirut. Frequented by students, it does a good business in breakfasts, serving everything from local kaak bread to buffalo wings and ice cream. It also offers (of course) lots of black coffee and water pipes.
One of the friendliest cafés in Beirut, Al Kahwa straddles the fusion fence, catering to the large number of ex-pat foreign students and teachers at AUB as well as locals, but manages to provide consistently good food and a kicking atmosphere. The young crowd and reasonably priced and generously portioned food means that it’s always a welcome pitstop.
