Le Coffee

Found in a large new building in Monnot, directly opposite the now legendary Crystal nightclub, Le Coffee is one of the friendliest cafés in Beirut, all built on the popularity of the older Tribeca around the corner, giving this part of Achrafieh a new daytime lease of life. With black-and-white portraits of film stars and pop idols on the walls, and plenty of seating in deep velvet-covered chairs, Le Coffee is almost the perfect place to relax – except, that is, for the lights, so bright that they create a sterile feel.

The large menu comprises classic sandwiches, fried breakfasts and burgers, as well as a full complement of coffees. Le Coffee is an interesting spot to people-watch, or just simply to come and browse through a selection of magazines from the collection of publications that lines the wall. The outside courtyard becomes a suntrap on hazy summer days, while the interior provides succour from the winter chills. It certainly seems that this fashionable little café is here to stay.
