Sydney’s is the most luxurious of the café-bars in Beirut for any taste at any time. With the feel of a British gentlemen’s club, Sydney’s is located high up on the roof of the Intercontinenal Le Vendôme with a conservatory and bar area. Sydney’s is a hedonist’s heaven, with deep leather chairs to sink into any time of day or night – but especially night. The views are a delight – you can see all the way to the mountains above Jounieh bay in the north – and snacks and meals are available at any hour. On the whole, however, Sydney’s functions more as a late-night bar when it fills with bejewelled Lebanese princesses and their wealthy boyfriends – making it even more fun. It’s always a good place to go after a night on the tiles, but beware: it is easy to get stuck at Sydney’s till dawn.
