Zaatar Wa Zeit
At the lower end of the scale of post-club and bar cafés in Berlin is Zaatar Wa iZet, just at the top of Monnot Street, where most of the fall-out from an evening of drinking ends up on any given night. And they come because of the delicious manaesh sandwiches at cheap prices. Squeezing into the booths that seat about 20 souls at best, Zaatar Wa Zeit has a high turnover and a lively atmosphere of young and old. It is perfect for meeting local Beirutis who may very well pick you up and take you on to a house party or another club afterwards, depending on the time of night. During the day it’s the manaesh, which can be stuffed with falafel, cheese, ham and other toppings, that makes Zaatar Wa Zeit a good, cheap eating option.
