The Crowne Plaza in Hamra is one of those places to stay in Beirut that you might brush off at first as just another international chain hotel without much character – that is if you even notice it. Located at the Raouche end of Hamra Street, and slightly set back from the main road, this 21-storey building is the highest in the neighbourhood.
The quality of the rooms combined with the breathtaking views from the upper floors make the Crowne Plaza a hotel to return to. Equipped with all mod-cons and laid out in dark mahogany, the rooms are spacious and modern.
In the 20th-floor health club one can relax in a jacuzzi looking directly out onto a panoramic vista of the city, while the top floor bar/restaurant and pool commands the most attention with a 360-degree view of all Beirut. It’s wonderful for a sunset cocktail.
