French, high-class and located slightly off the beaten track, Aziz is without doubt one of the best restaurants in Beirut. Despite its unpromising location on the first floor of a nondescript building on a main through road, Aziz serves up a smorgasbord of rich and delicious treats – from snails to incredible steaks and exquisite desserts. The wine list, which is vast and expensive, is one of the best in town, and the décor simple and elegant, with light flooding in from the vast windows all along one side. After 50 years in the business it’s not surprising the place has a regular following (although it’s unlikely that any vegetarians feature among them). Once you’ve experienced the food and attentive service you’ll understand why Aziz is one Beirut restaurant not to be missed. A perfect spot for romantic dinners. For those wanting to take the taste of Aziz away, there is also a delicatessen on the ground floor.
