Mandarine
Mandarine is one of the oldest restaurants in Beirut, simply decorated and now appealing to the ladies-who-lunch, weary from taxing shopping trips to the boutiques of trendy Verdun. Lebanese and fusion cuisine are the order of the day in this small but relaxed environment.
It’s rather quiet, and its location is not the most happening in town, but it does benefit from an innovative conveyor belt for Arabic mezze, a concept so obviously lifted from Lebanon’s sushi bars. Look out for the foul modama, fried cauliflower in tahini and the manoushie.
