Ksara Winery
Wine fans, as many hedonists are, must visit the oldest and most famous of Lebanon’s wineries in the Bekaa Valley, a site not far from Beirut just south of Zahle town. Originally the site of a medieval fortress, it has bountiful grapevines and amazing underground caves where the barrels of Ksara are stored and mature. There’s a decent 45-minute tour of the caves detailing the history and wine-making process of Ksara. Again take a taxi from Beirut or hire a car and drive yourself, but try not to drink too much – there’s plenty of tasting on offer.
