Hg2 : The Hedonist

A Hedonist’s guide to…

Beirut

Yellow Submarine
Tyre Public Beach
A simply beautiful beach close to the city's ruins which include Alexander the Great's monumental Arch to make a relaxing and culturally stimulating day trip.
The Hippodrome
Let's face it Beirut's horse racing scene is never going to compare to the Grand National, Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe or the Kentucky Derby - but the Lebanese do love to gamble which makes it exciting nevertheless.
Sporting Club
Sporting might not look like much - it's very difficult to see the beauty in concrete - but the resort is one of the best and well worth going to if only to try and parse out its appeal.
La Reserve
Each and every outdoor activity you could ever want to do are available in the Afqa Reserve from caving to parasailing. Stay for a while and try them all.
Flying Carpet
I can show you the world... On a magic carpet ride! While this may not be the flying carpet of our dreams it is a cheap and cheerful way to take to the skies.
Esprit Nomade
A hiking trip available to people of all abilities and a fantastic way to see some of the sights around Beirut from salt marshes to historical ruins. Bring your hiking shoes!
Beirut by Bike
Cycling in Beirut can be somewhat problematic - the problem being the insanely dangerous and blinkered driving style of most Lebanese. But if you can get up to er speed on the principles of survival here then it's a great way to see the city.
Atlas Beach
Atlas Beach is for those who prefer a quieter beach side experience with a distinct lack of the drone of jet skis and nattering. On the other hand also lacks some of the facilities of other beaches.
