Taking a cue from the speakeasy trend, Drayton Bar, opened by the guys behind high-profile club Cookie’s, is done-up dark, sleek and sexy. The tiled floor and retro furnishings make for a cosy place for punters to relax in between clubbing outings, and the serious cocktail programme, helmed by barman Christian Gentemann, is largely inspired by Prohibition drinks. As is befitting of all speakeasy-esque institutions, Drayton Bar can be hard to find. It’s only accessible through a small back alley behind the Westin Hotel, which requires a bit of hunting to seek out. Completing the vibe is the attached Yellow Lounge, which combines classical and electronic music in a heady live spectacle that’s best appreciated with a well-mixed drink in hand.
