Although there are many Berlin cafés in up-and-coming Schöneberg, very few are worthy of a mention. April is arguably the best of them, offering both an interesting menu and comfortable surroundings. Close to the Winterfeldplatz, it’s the perfect pit stop for bargain hunters scouting the Saturday morning antiques market. The breakfast platters (ranging from traditional to ambitious) are highly recommended – each prepared with a touch of the gourmet. The walls are filled with framed film posters while silver cherubs hang above the bar. During the week, April is popular at lunchtime with a business crowd and then functioning more as a restaurant in the evenings. Wiener Schnitzel and flammkuchen (the wood-oven fired, pizza-esque concoction known as tarte flambée) are especially popular.
