Kauf Dich Glücklich
You can’t buy happiness is not something this hip café believes (as the name ‘Kauf Dich Glücklich’ might suggest), and there are plenty of pleasing items for sale at this perennially hip spot. The brainchild of two sisters schooled in interior design, ‘Kauf Dich Glucklich’ was launched as a creative space for fledgling artists to sell their wares, with a few tasty nibbles tossed into the equation. Scarves, necklaces, shoes and small toys adorn the walls – all with a ‘selbst gemacht’ (homemade) stamp as well as a reasonable price tag. But it’s the tasty selection of filled waffles and ice-cream delights that really pulls in the crowds – young and old. Both kitsch and kooky, it was an instant hit with Berlin’s cool clique. Worth a visit after trawling the nearby Sunday flea market at Mauer Park – where most of the retro furnishings were purchased.
