Yaam @ Hoppetosse
Berlin’s premier reggae party takes place every Sunday night on the moored Hoppetosse boat. Rastas, students and music lovers dance well into the night, irrespective of whether they have to make it to work in the morning or not. The air is often thick with cannabis smoke and women should expect some friendly attention on the dance-floor. But the mood is always upbeat and interesting characters a dead cert. Those desperate for a breath of non-smoky air should head to the open deck up top. During the week the boat also functions as a restaurant and hosts various electronic, rock and gay parties, but check the web for details first. In addition, Yaam is now open 2-10pm daily at Stralauer Platz 35 (opposite the Ostbahnhof) in Friedrichshain. With basket, foot- and beach-volleyball and a bar, it’s a great place to waste away a summer afternoon.
