Lubitsch
The diners may be It-girls at Lubitsch, one of the most sophisticated restaurants in Berlin, but the owner comes from more humble stock, and was once part of the waiting staff. Having gathered enough funds, she purchased Lubitsch but still continues to wait hand and foot on her customers. Mirrored walls, white marble floors and gold trim give the restaurant a high-class appeal and aptly complement its silver service reputation. Design team Kaikiefer were responsible for the interior and originally used Lubitsch as a company show piece. Table decoration is meticulous, with fresh cut flowers delicately placed on crisp white tablecloths. Frequented by Berlin’s it-girls, who waft through the restaurant on their way to or from nearby exclusive boutiques, lunch times are particularly busy, and several regulars stop by for an early evening spritzer at the small bar. The domestic menu tends to be seasonal although a few international dishes are thrown in for good measure.
