Since its opening in October 2014, this high-end concept store has quickly become the destination for interior designers and the stylishly house-proud in Berlin. The word that best describes the store? Curated. Every piece in the boutique – from items of furniture to objet d’art – has been carefully chosen by owner Catherine Pfisterer, a woman with an incredible eye for great design and emerging talent, both homegrown and international.
As you’d expect from a store so design-led, the look of the two-storey Bazar Noir – as envisioned by Pfisterer and design studio Hidden Fortress – is sleek and avant garde, with a largely black colour scheme punctuated by a central light pine staircase. And, while shopping here tends to require a well-stuffed wallet, the knowledge that every piece stocked is essentially one-of-a-kind does soften the blow, somewhat.
