Komische Oper
This Berlin opera that was founded by the Austrian director Walter Felsenstein after the war, the Komisches Oper – a direct reference to the French Opéra Comique – specializes in German language productions of opera, operetta and musicals. Theatre has been performed here since the 1760s, and the magnificent 19th-century 1,190-seat auditorium was refurbished in 1986. Performances range from Handel right up to 21st-century material.
