Un Cuarto de Arte
Occasionally, a strobe light will illuminate the space at Un Cuarto de Arte and music will pump through the speakers, but most of the time this is one of the bars in Bogotá where customers sit outside enjoying soft rock and wine. The crowd predominantly consists of young intellectuals, musicians and artists, here to admire the art and relax over intellectual conversation. These long-haired patrons sit at an odd assortment of tables sheltered by one umbrella, regardless of the weather; they are a devout following. The exhibition itself changes every few months, and occasionally there are just stark white walls, but the opening nights of something new are a lot of fun, and Un Cuarto de Arte has manage to carve out an original niche in Zona T. The art is really very good and the drinks perfectly drinkable, though Un Cuarto de Arte’s main appeal is as a refuge for Bogotá’s alternative creators.
