Café de las Letras
The interior of Café de las Letras is entirely black-and-white-which is intended to reflect the colours associated with letters-but the thoroughly modern furnishings ensure that this is one of the cafés in Bogotá which is far from drab. On the ground floor is room for 100 hungry diners, while the downstairs doubles up as shop in which music, books and traditional Colombian artefacts are sold. Upstairs, meanwhile, is an internet hub complete with four computer cubicles and WiFi. There’s a wide choice of delicious coffee to choose from and a food menu that ranges from simple sandwiches to shrimp carpaccio. On certain nights, the café is host to live music, food festivals and literary discussions – attracting, as you’d imagine, the city’s intelligentsia. Somehow, the large space still feels personal and the staff is friendly and always serves with smile.
