La Puerta Falsa
The business of La Puerta Falsa has been running since 1816 and has remained in the same family throughout, which is a rarity among the cafés in Bogotá. Hoardes of businessmen and tourists surge in and out of the tiny two-store café, eager to sample authentic Colombian delights. The most popular item is certainly the tamales, which are the best in the city and delicious dunked into steaming hot chocolate, but there are plenty of other traditional sweets to sample, too. If you choose to sit, then try the spiced sausages or the simple but delicious egg and cheese sandwich.
