Masa
Masa is a bread and pastry-centric café in the El Nogal district of Bogotá. Although there are, of course, other delights on offer throughout the day – everything from well-made coffees to fluffy eggs – the dishes starring Masa’s freshly-baked bread steal the show. And happily there are lots to choose from, including grilled cheese sandwiches, croque madames and roast beef tartines. The pastry selection, meanwhile, showcases sugar-dusted doughnuts and rich cakes, moreish tarts and tempting muffins. As you can imagine, the breakfast-time rush is worth contending with; there’s nothing like a flaky, crisp Masa croissant to set you up for the day.
Masa’s décor is open and airy, with plenty of natural light and greenery throughout. So it’s not hard to understand why the cafe’s otherwise understated, calm surrounds become packed with punters during daylight hours. But it’s not the biggest space, so come prepared for a wait to snag a seat at one of Masa’s crema-coloured wooden tables. Or just grab one of the their signature baguettes and a coffee to go and hope for better luck next time.
