Hg2 : The Hedonist

Habana

Habana is one of the restaurants in Bogota which is largely filled with well-established professionals taking a break from their money-making to enjoy a relaxed night of Cuban music. Of course, the food is Cuban, too, but you can’t come to Habana without trying a mojito. It sometimes seems that every restaurant boasts ‘the best mojito’, but Habana really does take the crown. What is more, it also serves Ron Zacapa rum, a speciality stored below Guatamalan volcanoes, and something of a legend amongst rum connoisseurs. The ‘viejas ropas’ (literally ‘ropey meat’, but more like brisket and much more appetising than the name suggests) is a favourite dish, but all the options are well made and Habana is certainly a credible restaurant, not just a music venue. The white-draped tables are widely spaced around the band stage and the setting is far less cramped then most of Bogotá’s bars, so there’s always time for a dance after coffee.
